Ikram Aliskerov is a 33-year-old Russian middleweight from Dagestan with one of the most impressive combat sports resumes in modern MMA. Before ever stepping into the UFC Octagon, he had already claimed four world championships and two European titles in combat sambo, establishing himself as a legitimate grappling technician with international accolades. He transitioned to MMA full-time in 2017 with Brave CF, where he compiled a 9-1 record before a first-round knockout loss to then-rising prospect Khamzat Chimaev in April 2019, a fighter who would later capture the UFC middleweight title. That loss remains his only blemish outside the UFC.

Alistkerov earned his UFC contract via Dana White's Contender Series in September 2022 and has since gone 4-1 inside the Octagon, with a devastating knockout power that has produced 8 first-round finishes and a 41% finish rate overall. His UFC debut against Phil Hawes (May 2023) was a first-round explosion, and his Performance of the Night finish of Warlley Alves at UFC 294 in October 2023 announced him as a serious title-track contender. Everything appeared on trajectory until June 22, 2024, when he faced former middleweight champion Robert Whittaker in a main event on short notice and was knocked out in the first minute, a shocking setback that briefly derailed his championship aspirations.

But Aliskerov has bounced back with two consecutive wins: a first-round knockout of Andre Muniz in April 2025 and a gritty three-round decision over JunYong Park in October 2025. The Park fight in particular revealed new layers to his game, proving he possesses the cardio, wrestling, and jiu-jitsu to grind through a full fight when finishes aren't available. He lands 6.86 significant strikes per minute with sharp precision and boasts perfect takedown defense, combining his sambo clinch control with underrated submission craft (five wins by submission, including three kimuras). Now ranked #15 in the middleweight division with a 17-2 professional record, Aliskerov is a fighter who blends elite grappling pedigree with striking power, relentless pressure, and a hunger to prove the Whittaker loss was an aberration rather than a ceiling.

Why fans love Aliskerov

Explosive knockout power paired with genuine striking speed and clinch control. His sambo pedigree and grappling accolades give him an aura of martial arts legitimacy. He's proven he can adapt (the Park decision showed wrestling and jiu-jitsu), and his willingness to take short-notice fights (stepped in for Chimaev vs. Whittaker) signals ambition and hunger.

Why some fans hate Aliskerov

Aliskerov missed weight once (0.2 lb over at Eagle FC 46 in 2022), suggesting occasional discipline lapses. His callout of Khamzat Chimaev and claim to be 'always ready' for a title shot on short notice reads as confident bordering on arrogant to some, especially given his recent Whittaker loss and ranking outside the top 15.
