Jaqueline Amorim is a Brazilian submission specialist on the rise in the UFC women's strawweight division. Born and raised in Manaus in the heart of the Amazon, she grew up watching early UFC events with her single father and dreamed of competing at the sport's highest level despite voices telling her to pursue a more conventional path. She began training jiu-jitsu at age five and never stopped, earning a second-degree black belt and multiple IBJJF world championships at both colored and black belt levels before turning professional in 2020.

Amorim's early pro career was a masterclass in dominance. She compiled a 4-0 record in regional promotions before winning the LFA strawweight title and successfully defending it. When she signed with the UFC in 2023, she arrived as a decorated grappler ready to make an impact. Her UFC debut loss to Sam Hughes was educational: a close, competitive decision that proved she could hang with elite strikers but also revealed a vulnerability on the scorecards when fights go the distance. Since that setback in April 2023, she has rattled off five consecutive wins, all by submission or knockout, reasserting her identity as a finisher.

In the cage, Amorim is a ground-focused predator. Her signature move is the armbar - she's landed it five times in the UFC alone - but she's equally comfortable hunting rear-naked chokes, keybars, and arm triangles. Statistically, 69% of her significant strikes land on the ground, and her average finish time is under nine minutes. She's recorded nine first-round finishes in her pro career and has yet to be submitted. Her stand-up is serviceable but secondary; most opponents find themselves in a bad position on the mat within the first or second round.

With an 11-2 UFC record featuring 11 straight stoppages, Amorim has earned recognition as one of the best finishers in women's MMA. She's hungry, methodical, and driven by a humble gratitude to her father and the sport that gave her an escape route and a dream realized. For casual fans, she's a must-watch for one simple reason: when you tune into an Amorim fight, someone is getting tapped or knocked out.

Why fans love Amorim

Her perfect finishing rate and explosive submission finishes are electric. Amorim embodies the dream-chaser story: raised by a single father in Manaus who told her to pursue something more conventional, she refused and made it to the UFC anyway. Her humility in post-fight interviews ('I've trained jiu-jitsu since I was five years old - jiu-jitsu is my strength') and respect for the sport resonate. She's also visibly hungry to climb the rankings.
