Yazmin Jauregui

Yazmin Jauregui is a 25-year-old Mexican strawweight who burst onto the UFC scene as a prospect with genuine promise. After starting to train at 15 to escape bullying at school, she fell in love with combat sports and became a regional standout, winning the UWC Women's Strawweight Championship and the Combate Global Last Latina Standing tournament before earning her UFC debut in August 2022. She impressed early against Iasmin Lucindo with a unanimous decision victory, earning 2022 UFC Rookie of the Year honors and a #5 Newcomer of the Year ranking. Her knockout power was on full display when she stopped Istela Nunes via second-round TKO in December 2022.

However, Jauregui's ascent hit a brutal speed bump at UFC 290 in July 2023 when she suffered a shocking 20-second knockout loss to Denise Gomes, creating the fastest finish in strawweight history and ending her unbeaten 10-0 run.
