Anthony 'Rumble' Johnson was one of the most feared finishers in MMA history. With concussive power in his hands and underrated wrestling, he tore through opponents across welterweight, middleweight and light heavyweight, ending most of his fights in a hurry and challenging Daniel Cormier twice for the light heavyweight title.
His power was the whole story - when Johnson landed clean, fights ended, as contenders like Glover Teixeira and Alexander Gustafsson discovered. Early in his career he struggled badly with weight cuts, missing weight by large margins, but once he settled at light heavyweight he became a wrecking machine. His record stands around 19-8.
Johnson retired in 2017 at the peak of his abilities and sadly passed away in 2022. For newcomers, he remains one of the sport's most electrifying knockout artists - a fighter whose highlight reel is as scary as anyone's in the division's history.
Why fans love Johnson
Jaw-dropping knockout power, highlight-reel finishes, and a fan-friendly, finish-first style that made him appointment viewing.
Why some fans hate Johnson
Early in his career he repeatedly missed weight by large margins, a recurring issue that frustrated fans before he settled at light heavyweight.
