About

Former UFC bantamweight contender now competing in bare-knuckle fighting after a troubled run marked by weight-cut struggles and recent losses.

Aspen Ladd is a 30-year-old striker who rose through Invicta FC with a dominant early record built on finishing power, then entered the UFC in 2017 where she scored quick knockout wins over Tonya Evinger (earning Performance of the Night honors) and earned a Fight of the Night bonus against Sijara Eubanks. She was on a clear path toward title contention when a visibly brutal weight cut preceded her devastating 16-second TKO loss to Germaine de Randamie in July 2019, a setback she appealed unsuccessfully. Though she rebounded with a win over Yana Kunitskaya, consecutive losses to Norma Dumont and Raquel Pennington derailed her momentum, and she was released from the UFC in late 2022 after missing weight for the third time.

Known for aggressive forward pressure and heavy hands, Ladd relies on pace and combinations to wear opponents down, with six knockout wins in the UFC and a purple-belt jiu-jitsu background. Her chronic struggles making bantamweight ultimately forced her out of the promotion; health concerns from severe weight cuts became a recurring issue that frustrated both the fighter and athletic commissions.

After the UFC release, she competed in the Professional Fighters League at featherweight, then made the jump to bare-knuckle fighting. In her BKFC debut in November 2025, she delivered a statement performance, scoring three knockdowns against Shyanna Bintliff and finishing by knockout in the opening round, suggesting she may have found a division and format where her power translates more reliably. The result signals a potential second chapter for a fighter looking to prove she still belongs among elite combat athletes.

Why fans love Ladd

Early career aggression, consistent finishing power (six UFC knockouts), and the redemption narrative of a fighter attempting to bounce back in bare-knuckle boxing after promotion release.

Why some fans hate Ladd

Chronic weight-miss issues culminating in her UFC release; missed weight three times in her final UFC stretch, with one instance (October 2021 vs. Chiasson) cancelled due to health concerns from the weight cut. The July 2019 weight cut against de Randamie drew particular scrutiny for appearing medically dangerous, and she appealed that loss on stoppage grounds, which was denied.
