Maryna Moroz

Maryna Moroz is a Ukrainian mixed martial artist and Olympic boxing coach who transitioned to MMA in 2013 after establishing herself as a decorated amateur boxer and kickboxer. She made her UFC debut in April 2015 at UFC Fight Night 64, immediately announcing herself with a first-round armbar submission of Joanne Calderwood - a performance so clean it earned her a bonus. Over the next seven years, Moroz compiled a 6-6 record in the UFC women's flyweight division, consistently deploying her signature submission arsenal (six submission wins, five first-round finishes) and her solid boxing fundamentals to grind out victories and earn two additional Performance of the Night bonuses, most notably for her arm-triangle choke finish of Mariya Agapova at UFC 272 and a Fight of the Night honors against Mayra Bueno Silva in 2020.

Her fighting style reflects her boxing roots: methodical, disciplined, and built on clinch control and grappling setup rather than high-volume striking. She lands significant strikes efficiently but absorbs less than she lands, favoring positional work and submission hunting over explosive exchanges. This technical, grind-focused approach has made her a reliable mid-level competitor, but she has struggled consistently against elite-level opponents, including decision losses to Carla Esparza and Angela Hill, and three consecutive losses from 2022 to 2024 that accelerated her fall from contention.

In September 2025, Moroz's UFC tenure came to an abrupt end. She tested positive for meldonium, a banned metabolic modulator, in two separate out-of-competition drug tests conducted in June and July 2025. Though she provided medical documentation showing the substance was prescribed by a licensed physician, she failed to notify the UFC or request a therapeutic use exemption, resulting in a one-year suspension retroactive to July 2025 and her release from the promotion. She will be eligible to compete again in July 2026. Beyond fighting, Moroz has built a modeling career, becoming the first UFC fighter to sign with Playboy in 2022, and maintains a significant social media presence.
