Alan Jouban is a stylish welterweight striker who built his reputation on high-volume, technical striking and a genuine love for combat. Born and raised in Lafayette, Louisiana, Jouban started training Muay Thai in 2005 at age 23 and compiled an undefeated amateur record before turning professional in 2011. His UFC debut in August 2014 against Seth Baczynski was a statement: a first-round knockout so explosive that both fighters earned Fight of the Night honors. That debut set the template for Jouban's career: exciting, pace-heavy striking exchanges that prioritized action and technical proficiency over pure power.

Over his UFC tenure, Jouban established himself as a reliable source of entertaining fights, accumulating four Fight of the Night bonuses and finishing 11 opponents by knockout or submission. He faced elite competition consistently, mixing wins over solid contenders like Mike Perry and Ben Saunders with losses to top-tier grapplers Gunnar Nelson and Niko Price. Those defeats revealed a weakness in his game: when opponents imposed heavy pressure or dragged the fight to the canvas, Jouban's technical advantages evaporated. His split-decision loss to Dwight Grant in April 2019 marked the beginning of a decline, and after 18 months away from competition, he returned to post a unanimous decision victory over Jared Gooden in November 2020.

Two months into 2021, Jouban announced his retirement from competition to pursue broadcasting, closing out a 17-7 professional record defined by combat excellence and transparent passion for the sport. While he never won a UFC belt or secured a title shot, his four Fight of the Night performances and willingness to face ranked opposition throughout his career earned him respect as an exciting technician and an athlete who embodied the warrior ethos he frequently preached.

Why fans love Jouban

Jouban earned four Fight of the Night bonuses for consistently engaging, back-and-forth striking exchanges. He fought top competition, showed technical leg and head kicks, and displayed the willingness to stand and trade rather than coast to decisions. His motto of 'fighting is what drives' him reflected genuine passion for combat.
