Vince Morales is a 35-year-old bantamweight grappler who has spent over a decade in professional MMA, with two separate stints in the UFC. Born in Ontario, Oregon, and one of 13 siblings, Morales came late to fighting after wrestling in high school and attending Boise State before dropping out due to family issues. He forged a regional career in Idaho organizations like Front Street Fights, where he won the featherweight title, before stepping into the UFC as a late replacement in 2018. His first tenure (2018-2022) produced mixed results: he went 3-5, with striking wins over Aiemann Zahabi and Drako Rodriguez offset by losses to stronger competition and a catastrophic leg-kick TKO to Chris Gutierrez that left him with a torn Achilles tendon.

After a three-year absence from the UFC, Morales rebuilt himself on the regional scene with a five-fight winning streak that included claiming the UFL bantamweight championship by submitting Hunter Azure with a Peruvian necktie in August 2024. This success earned him a second UFC return in September 2024 against Taylor Lapilus on short notice. However, his second stint proved steeper: he has lost four straight (Lapilus, Elijah Smith, Raul Rosas Jr., Colby Thicknesse, all by unanimous decision) and was released from the roster in May 2026.

Morales is a submission-heavy fighter with seven KO wins and five submission victories, including five first-round finishes. His most explosive performance came against Louis Smolka in December 2021, a first-round knockout that exemplified his finishing ability. He lands most of his strikes from the feet but is fundamentally a wrestler who hunts control and the back, with a diverse submission arsenal spanning rear naked chokes, arm triangles, anacondas, and brabo chokes. Outside the cage, he trains other fighters, runs React Workouts (a virtual MMA coaching app), and publicly advocates for fighters from underserved backgrounds.

In late 2025, Morales made headlines when he publicly alleged that he had been offered $70,000 to throw one of his UFC fights, which he refused on principle. Though he deleted the posts, the claim added a layer of controversy to his profile. At 35 with a 16-11 pro record, Morales remains a gritty journeyman known for taking short-notice fights and showing up to compete, but his recent skid and second UFC release suggest his window for another promotional return is narrowing.

Why fans love Morales

Morales comes from a humble background (one of 13 siblings, small-town Ontario, Oregon) and represents fighters without major opportunities. He trains his own students, runs a virtual coaching app (React Workouts), and competes at 35 with a wrestling foundation that shows durability and heart. He has spoken about setting his family up for the future and proving himself, which resonates with underdog narratives.

Why some fans hate Morales

Morales publicly claimed in November 2025 that he was offered $70,000 to throw one of his UFC fights, which he refused but then deleted the posts. While he took a principled stance against match-fixing, the allegation itself raises questions about his environment or the fighters he may have associated with. Additionally, his recent four-fight losing streak and second UFC release may invite criticism from some fans as uncompetitive or unworthy of roster spots.
