Stephanie Egger is a Swiss mixed martial artist with an exceptional grappling pedigree, having earned a black belt in judo and competed as a judoka before transitioning to MMA. She won the European U23 Judo Championships in 2010 and became a Swiss national champion in the sport before retiring from judo competition due to injuries. Her strong grappling foundation led her to compete at the 2019 ADCC World Championships, where she faced world-class submitters, and eventually into mixed martial arts competition.
Egger made her UFC debut in October 2020 as an injury replacement against Tracy Cortez, losing via unanimous decision. Over her four-year tenure in the promotion, she compiled a 3-5 record while showcasing her submission skills. Her standout moment came in February 2022 when she defeated Jessica-Rose Clark via first-round armbar submission, earning her first Performance of the Night bonus. She also scored victories via submission against Shanna Young and Ailin Perez, but suffered losses to several UFC-caliber opponents including Mayra Bueno Silva, Irina Alekseeva, and Luana Santos.
Egger's fighting style is built on her judo and grappling background, with her primary threat coming from positional dominance and submission attacks. Though her UFC record did not result in title contention, her technical approach to submissions and elite-level grappling credentials made her a respected presence among submission enthusiasts. After being released from the UFC roster in early 2024, she signed with Oktagon MMA in October 2025, though she withdrew from her scheduled debut against Veronika Smolková due to illness.
Why fans love Egger
Her genuine elite grappling credentials and impressive submission finishes, particularly the first-round armbar against Clark, showcase technical mastery that appeals to pure technique enthusiasts.
