Albert Tumenov

Albert Tumenov is a Russian welterweight whose professional journey spans from UFC contender to multi-time championship holder in the Absolute Championship Akhmat. Born in Nalchik, Tumenov began his combat training at age six under his father Khusein, a former master of boxing, combining karate, hand-to-hand combat, and boxing into a well-rounded striking arsenal. He turned professional in 2010 and built a strong record in regional promotions before signing a four-fight UFC deal in December 2013 at age 22.

Tumenov's UFC tenure (2014-2016) was marked by explosive finishing power. After a rocky debut loss to Ildemar Alcântara, he established himself with consecutive first-round knockouts of Anthony Lapsley and Matt Dwyer, then peaked with a split-decision victory over credible competition Lorenz Larkin in January 2016. His most celebrated moment came at UFC 192 when he finished Alan Jouban with a head kick and punches in the first round, earning his sole Performance of the Night bonus and announcing himself as a prospect in the welterweight ranks. However, back-to-back submission losses to Gunnar Nelson and Leon Edwards late in 2016 prompted him to leave the UFC when his contract expired, seeking opportunities elsewhere.

Tumenov has found sustained success in the Absolute Championship Akhmat (now ACA), where he signed in 2017. He captured the welterweight title in 2018 by submitting Ciro Rodrigues, successfully defended it against Beslan Ushukov in 2019, and most recently reclaimed the belt in December 2023 with a dramatic fifth-round knockout of Ustarmagomed Gadzhidaudov. His high-volume, accurate striking (59% strike defense, landing 3.76 per minute) and knockout power remain his calling cards.
