Chepe Mariscal is a 33-year-old featherweight from Cicero, Illinois, who has been fighting since childhood after his parents enrolled him in martial arts at age six. He was hooked on MMA after watching his first live event at nine years old, a moment that set him on a path to the UFC. Before earning his Octagon spot in 2023, Mariscal compiled an impressive 18-1 amateur record, winning multiple IMMAF titles, a Golden Gloves boxing championship, and a Hoosier Fight Club featherweight title on the pro regional circuit. He holds black belts in judo and Japanese Jiu-Jitsu, giving him diverse grappling tools alongside striking prowess.
Mariscal fights as an aggressive brawler with seven career knockouts and respectable grappling credentials. He lands heavy hands (4.14 significant strikes per minute) and maintains solid defensive instincts while hunting submissions and trading in close quarters. His UFC debut in June 2023 was a success, and he rattled off three quick wins, including a knockout of Jack Jenkins at UFC 293 and a pair of three-round grinds over Damon Jackson and Ricardo Ramos. His 5-0 start in the promotion made him one of featherweight's rising prospects.
In 2024, Mariscal made a significant career move, joining elite training camp Syndicate MMA in Las Vegas alongside UFC bantamweight champion Merab Dvalishvili. He credited the need for structure and world-class coaching after years of floating between gyms and relying on teammates to corner him. That partnership came with real costs, however: he suffered his first UFC loss to Pat Sabatini at UFC 322 in November 2025, a unanimous decision that saw Sabatini's wrestling and back control ultimately overcome Mariscal's late-fight offense and striking activity. At 18-7-0 overall, Mariscal remains a hungry, humble fighter with genuine finishing power and a hunger to break through at featherweight.
