Da Un Jung is a South Korean mixed martial artist who has been fighting professionally since 2015. He cut his teeth in regional East Asian promotions, where he compiled an 11-2 record and claimed the HEAT Light Heavyweight Championship before earning his UFC debut in August 2019. He entered the Octagon as a finisher with a knack for submission wins, memorably submitting Khadis Ibragimov via standing guillotine choke in his debut and knocking out Mike Rodriguez in the first round just months later. For nearly two years, Jung looked like a prospect on the rise, posting quick finishes and gathering momentum.
Jung's approach has always been aggressive and offensive-minded. He lands most of his significant strikes from distance, avoids relying on takedowns, and carries 11 knockout wins in his professional record alongside two submission victories. His best performances have come when he can impose his pace early and finish fights before they are fully developed. The Sam Alvey draw in October 2020, though controversial (media outlets scored it for Alvey), was a turning point that suggested Jung's path was not as smooth as his early highlights had promised.
Since 2021, Jung has hit a difficult stretch. Losses to Dustin Jacoby (first-round knockout), Devin Clark (decision), Carlos Ulberg (third-round submission), and Oumar Sy (decision) have dropped him to a 4-fight skid. The slide has come against a mix of prospects and established mid-tier contenders, and he has not recaptured the explosive early form that made his 2019 and early 2021 performances so memorable. Jung remains a finisher in a division where power counts, but mounting losses have shifted him from prospect status to a struggling veteran trying to reverse course.
