Charles Rosa

Charles Rosa is a 13-time UFC veteran and lifelong martial artist from Peabody, Massachusetts, who stumbled into fighting almost by accident. The son of a professional boxer, Rosa trained in multiple disciplines before finding his way to American Top Team gym in Florida while working as a chef. He made his UFC debut in 2014 as a short-notice replacement against Dennis Siver, earning Fight of the Night honors in a back-and-forth affair that announced his arrival on the sport's biggest stage. Over the next nine years, Rosa posted a mixed record at featherweight and lightweight, with notable losses to top-ranked opponents like Bryce Mitchell and Yair Rodriguez balanced against gritty performances and submission victories that earned him two more Fight of the Night bonuses.

Rosa's career took a dramatic turn in 2017-2018 when a serious neck injury threatened to end his fighting altogether. After doctors suggested retirement, he spent 30 months in recovery, returning triumphantly in October 2019 with a first-round arm-bar submission of Manny Bermudez that earned him a Performance of the Night bonus. However, his late-stage UFC run became a slog of split and unanimous decision losses against mid-tier featherweights, and in August 2023, the promotion cut him loose. Rather than retire, Rosa pursued his release and pivoted to regional fighting.

Since leaving the UFC, Rosa has thrived in smaller promotions and odd combat-sports formats. He won the CES MMA Lightweight title with first-round submission finishes, competed in bare-knuckle MMA for Gamebred Bareknuckle MMA, and most recently signed with BKFC Ice Wars, an experimental promotion where fighters compete in a 900-square-foot ice enclosure without hockey equipment. In October 2025, he knocked out former hockey enforcer Reid Krasowski on ice in the second round, cementing his unlikely reinvention.
