Michael 'Venom' Page, better known as MVP, is one of combat sports' most divisive showmen. He built a massive following in Bellator with a near-unbeaten record and a highlight reel full of theatrical, often outrageous knockouts, fighting with an unorthodox karate-based style full of strange angles, flicking jabs and spectacular kicks.
For all the highlights, Page also drew skeptics. Critics pointed to his point-fighting tendencies and a Bellator run they felt was padded with carefully chosen opponents, and his showboating earned as many detractors as fans. The question following him to the UFC was whether the flash would hold up against deeper competition.
He answered it in part with a debut win over Kevin Holland and a victory over former title challenger Jared Cannonier, while a loss to unbeaten Ian Garry illustrated the ceiling. With a record around 25-3, Page remains exactly what he has always been: a uniquely entertaining, genuinely polarizing showman whose every fight carries the promise of something spectacular.
Why fans love Page
Flashy, unorthodox striking, theatrical highlight knockouts and undeniable showmanship.
Why some fans hate Page
Critics knock his point-fighting, flicking style and the perception that he hand-picked soft opponents during his Bellator run, with his showboating rubbing some fans the wrong way.
