Edmen Shahbazyan entered the UFC as one of the most talked-about young prospects in the middleweight division. Mentored through the camp around Ronda Rousey and blessed with length and knockout power, he rattled off early finishes and became one of the youngest ranked fighters at 185, with many projecting a future title run.

The hype outpaced his experience. A main-event step-up loss revealed gaps in his game, and a rocky middle stretch followed as more rounded opponents tested his grappling and composure. For a fighter who had risen so fast, it was a humbling reset.

To his credit, Shahbazyan has rebuilt. A recent run of wins, including a finish of the respected Andre Muniz, suggests a more patient, complete fighter who has learned from the stumbles.
