Emil Weber Meek is a Norwegian welterweight who emerged from the regional European MMA scene as a legitimate prospect before his stint in the UFC from 2016 to 2021. Starting his professional career in 2011, Meek built a reputation as a devastating striker with finishing power, eventually capturing the Venator Fighting Championship welterweight title in 2016 by knocking out Rousimar Palhares with a series of punches and elbows. His charismatic 'Valhalla' persona and knockout prowess earned him Fighter of the Year and Prospect of the Year accolades in Norwegian MMA circles, setting the stage for his UFC debut.

Meek made his promotional debut at UFC 206 in December 2016, defeating veteran Jordan Mein via unanimous decision. The win announced him as a legitimate welterweight prospect, but his time in the UFC proved to be a difficult lesson in elite-level competition. Facing top-ranked contenders, Meek's striking-heavy approach and limited grappling proved insufficient. He lost unanimous decisions to future welterweight champion Kamaru Usman in January 2018, Bartosz Fabinski in July 2018, and Jake Matthews in February 2020, going 1-3 in his final four UFC bouts before his release in June 2021.

As a fighter, Meek embodied a straightforward power-punching welterweight with strong clinch striking and heavy hands, accumulating 7 knockout wins in his career. However, his limited takedown defense and ground wrestling left him vulnerable to the advancing level of grappling in the UFC. After his release from the promotion, Meek competed in regional European promotions including KSW before announcing his retirement from MMA in April 2024, ending a career that showcased both regional success and the challenges of competing at the sport's highest level.

Why fans love Weber Meek

Meek's 'Valhalla' nickname and Norwegian heritage created a charismatic persona, and his highlight-reel finishing power (7 knockout wins) made him exciting to watch on the feet.
