Ludovit Klein is a Slovak mixed martial artist who embodies the scrappy, hard-nosed European MMA ethos. Born in Nove Zamky in 1995, Klein started boxing at age 12 against his parents' wishes and later added Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Muay Thai to become a well-rounded finisher. Before joining the UFC he earned his living as a disco bouncer and made a name for himself on the regional circuit, racking up wins with signature head kicks and submission victories. He holds the distinction of being the first Slovakian fighter ever to compete in the UFC.

Klein arrived at the promotion in September 2020 with immediate impact, knocking out Shane Young in the first round at UFC 253. However, his early run included losses to Michael Trizano and Nate Landwehr, tempering early hype. Since 2022 he has refined his craft and strung together wins over solid competition: Mason Jones, Devonte Smith, Ignacio Bahamondes, Thiago Moisés, and Roosevelt Roberts. His record over his last 19 fights stands at 15-3-1, demonstrating consistency and an ability to adapt.

What sets Klein apart is his finishing rate: 9 knockouts, 8 submissions, and 10 first-round finishes across his 24 wins give him a genuine electricity in the Octagon. He lands over 3.7 significant strikes per minute and mixes heavy hands with kicks and clinch work, backed by a deep submission arsenal including guillotine chokes, rear-naked chokes, armbars, and triangles. While he lost a unanimous decision to top-10 contender Mateusz Gamrot in May 2025, he rebounded with a thrilling majority-decision victory over Mateusz Rebecki in October that earned him his first Fight of the Night bonus, signaling his readiness to compete at the highest level. Despite his resume and win rate, Klein remains outside the lightweight rankings, but his all-action style and European grit continue to build his case for a top-10 berth.

Why fans love Klein

Klein's relentless finishing mentality and technical diversity - he wins by KO, submission, and decision but never lets fights go to a decision without trying to end them. His underdog story (bouncer from Slovakia who taught himself fighting through sheer passion) and his status as the first fighter from his nation in the UFC carry genuine appeal. Fans appreciate his willingness to stand and trade and his submission arsenal diversity.
