Rashad Coulter's path to combat sports was unconventional. After 17 years playing American football, a catastrophic quadriceps tear ended his NFL aspirations and prompted a mid-career pivot to mixed martial arts. Introduced to MMA by childhood friend Muhammed Lawal (who nicknamed him 'The Daywalker'), Coulter began training in Muay Thai in 2010 and turned professional the following year. From 2011 to 2016, he built an impressive early record of 8 wins and 1 loss competing in regional promotions, with nearly all victories coming by knockout, establishing himself as an aggressive finisher.

Coulter's UFC tenure (2017-2018) proved more challenging. He made his promotion debut on short notice against Chase Sherman at UFC 211 in May 2017, stepping in as a replacement fighter. Though he lost by knockout in the second round, the fight earned both combatants Fight of the Night honors for the back-and-forth action. Two subsequent losses followed swiftly: a first-round flying knee knockout to debuting Tai Tuivasa and a second-round TKO to Chris de la Rocha. His lone UFC victory came in November 2018 against Hu Yaozong at light heavyweight, a unanimous decision that marked both his first decision win in the company and a stylistic shift away from his knockout-heavy past, though it was marred by a weight miss that resulted in a fine.

After departing the UFC, Coulter pursued title opportunities in smaller promotions with mixed results before recently establishing himself in bare-knuckle boxing, where he won his debut by first-round TKO but fell to Leonardo Perdomo in a more recent BKFC outing. Now in his early 40s, Coulter remains active, reflecting a durable journeyman's approach to a long combat sports career across multiple formats.

Why some fans hate Coulter

Weight miss (2 pounds over light heavyweight limit) against Hu Yaozong resulted in a fine; pattern of stepping in on short notice but losing to moderate competition suggests he may be more of a reliable opponent than a threatening contender.
