Jared Rosholt is a heavyweight mixed martial artist who emerged from one of college wrestling's most storied programs. The younger brother of three-time NCAA wrestling champion Jake Rosholt, Jared compiled a stellar amateur resume at Oklahoma State University, finishing his collegiate career as the winningest heavyweight in school history with a 125-27 record. He was a three-time All-American and narrowly missed gold at the NCAA championships, placing as runner-up in 2010, third in 2009, and second in the 2008 tournament. That wrestling foundation set him up for a professional MMA career that began in 2011 and brought him to the UFC in late 2013.
Rosholt's fighting style is rooted in that collegiate wrestling excellence: he is a technical heavyweight who relies on takedown control, positional dominance, and cardio to wear down opponents. Rather than a highlight-reel striker or submission specialist, he grinds out wins through wrestling-based pressure and top-game control. His notable UFC wins included unanimous decisions over Walt Harris, Soa Palelei, Timothy Johnson, and Stefan Struve, as well as a third-round TKO finish of Josh Copeland at UFC 185. His most impressive victory came against Stefan Struve at UFC 193 in November 2015, a unanimous decision win that represented the peak of his run in the organization.
However, Rosholt's time with the UFC came to an end in early 2016 after back-to-back setbacks. A first-round knockout loss to Alexey Oleynik in November 2014 was followed by a unanimous decision defeat to Roy Nelson at UFC Fight Night 82 in February 2016, which triggered his release from the promotion. He went on to compete in the Professional Fighters League and other regional circuits through 2019, continuing to fight at the heavyweight level but never returning to the UFC stage. For fans of pure wrestling-based MMA and technical heavyweights, Rosholt represents the kind of methodical, fundamentals-first approach that builds wins through consistency rather than spectacle.
Why fans love Rosholt
Represents the wrestling tradition and technical excellence from Oklahoma State; a quiet, no-nonsense fighter whose wins came from solid fundamentals and cardio.
