Lina Länsberg is a Swedish striker who proved it is never too late to chase elite combat sports. After building a decorated Muay Thai resume that included two IFMA World Championship golds and a 37-11 professional record, she came to MMA at 22 and spent years competing in smaller European promotions before joining the UFC in 2016. She made her Octagon debut as a massive underdog against Cris Cyborg, losing by second-round TKO, but her introduction to the promotion established her as a serious striker willing to take any fight offered.

Länsberg fights as a clinch-heavy technician who channels her Muay Thai mastery through devastating elbows and high-volume striking in close quarters. She lands significant strikes primarily from the clinch (44% of her output) and at distance, relying on solid fundamentals rather than overwhelming power. Her record against top competition proved streaky: she put together impressive wins over Pudilova, Mazany, Evinger, and Chiasson between 2017 and 2019, earning Nordic MMA Female Fighter of the Year honors, but struggled consistently against higher-ranked foes, losing decisions to Sara McMann, Pannie Kianzad, and Karol Rosa, and eventually a submission loss to Bueno Silva in 2023.

What made Länsberg compelling was her relentless pursuit of the highest stage late in her career, combined with her technical mastery of striking from her Muay Thai days. She was honest about her shortcomings, openly questioning judging in her own favor and never using excuses. After two years away to give birth, she returned to the UFC at 40 before retiring from the sport in February 2023, leaving a record of a fighter who came to MMA at the right moment for her passion but not her peak athleticism. Fans respected her toughness, her technical excellence, and her refusal to take easy fights.

Why fans love Lansberg

Her late start and refusal to pad her record against weak opposition; her celebration of striking violence and honesty about her own performances (famously thought she lost to Pudilova when she won); her Muay Thai pedigree and technical elbow work; her resilience in competing at 41 after multiple hiatuses.
