Matheus Nicolau is a Brazilian mixed martial artist who has spent the last decade grinding his way through regional MMA and the UFC's flyweight division. Born in 1993 in Belo Horizonte, he turned professional at just 17 and built a solid regional record before earning his shot on The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 4 in early 2015. His UFC debut came that November, and over the next six years he carved out a respectable career with a 11-3-1 record in the promotion, accumulating notable wins over respected names like Louis Smolka, Manel Kape, Tim Elliott, and David Dvorak.
