Megan Anderson is an Australian mixed martial artist who made her name as a finisher in the featherweight division. After discovering MMA through boxing circles on the Gold Coast in 2013, she climbed the independent ranks and won the Invicta FC Featherweight Championship in 2017 before being signed by the UFC. Over her UFC tenure, Anderson became known for her knockout power and submission skills, accumulating six first-round finishes and earning three Performance of the Night bonuses. Her blend of striking and grappling made her a dangerous challenger in the women's featherweight division.
Anderson's peak came in early 2021 when she earned a title shot against Amanda Nunes at UFC 259. Despite the opportunity, she was submitted via triangle armbar in the opening round, a loss that proved consequential. The UFC opted not to renew her contract following that defeat, and in February 2022 Anderson announced she was stepping away from the sport entirely. Her legacy centers on her finishing prowess and the dominant early rounds that characterized most of her wins, even as she struggled to maintain consistency against elite competition.
