Melsik Baghdasaryan is a 33-year-old Armenian striker who has built a formidable record across multiple combat sports before finding mixed success in the UFC. Born in 1992, he began formal training at six years old and spent his career primarily at Glendale Fighting Club in California. Before arriving in the UFC, Baghdasaryan held the Wu Lin Feng International kickboxing championship and compiled a perfect 3-0 professional boxing record, establishing himself as a serious and well-rounded striker. His pre-UFC MMA career was marked by a dramatic low point (a submission loss in his 2014 debut) followed by a five-year gap before his return in 2019, when he reeled off four consecutive knockout victories with a remarkable combined fight time of just 62 seconds. This explosive run earned him a shot at Dana White's Contender Series, where he won but initially did not receive a contract. That changed, and he signed with the UFC in March 2021. Baghdasaryan made an instant impact in the promotion, stopping Collin Anglin via head kick and strikes in round two of his debut at UFC on ESPN 28 (July 2021), a performance that earned him Performance of the Night honors and signaled the arrival of a genuine knockout threat at featherweight. He followed this with a decisive unanimous decision win over LFA featherweight champion Bruno Souza in November 2021, further solidifying his credentials. His record showed consistent progress through 2023, including another unanimous decision over Tucker Lutz that year. However, a rear-naked choke submission loss to Joshua Culibao in February 2023 marked a turning point, and a first-round TKO loss to the heavy-handed Jean Silva in February 2025 has put a damper on his trajectory. At 8-3-0 with five knockouts and a striker's resume, Baghdasaryan remains a dangerous featherweight, but recent results have knocked him off the prospect board and into the realm of journeyman with upside. His next fight is scheduled against promotional newcomer Murtazali Magomedov on June 20, 2026.
