Patrick "The Predator" Cote was a UFC fixture for more than a decade, a heavy-handed, granite-chinned Canadian who became a hero of the Quebec fight scene. His career high came in 2008, when he challenged the legendary Anderson Silva for the middleweight title and made it into the third round before a knee injury ended the bout, one of the unluckiest endings to a title fight in UFC history.
Cote later reinvented himself, dropping to welterweight and enjoying a resurgence as a popular gatekeeper, picking up wins over names like Joe Riggs while testing rising talents such as Stephen Thompson.
He retired as one of Canada's most durable and beloved veterans. Cote's appeal was always his toughness and heart, the kind of fighter who would bang with anyone and refuse to fold, and whose title-shot resume earned him lasting respect.
Why fans love Cote
Toughness, heart and a never-quit chin, plus the legacy of going three rounds at a title fight with Anderson Silva.
