Tafon Nchukwi

Tafon Nchukwi is a Cameroonian-American mixed martial artist who came through the ranks as a decorated striker before attempting to make his mark in the UFC's light heavyweight division. Born in Bamenda and raised in the United States, Nchukwi earned his reputation on the kickboxing circuit, capturing two WKA national championships and a world title. His credentials as a technician earned him a spot on Dana White's Contender Series, where a second-round knockout of Al Matavao secured his UFC contract.

In his early UFC career, Nchukwi impressed with his precise striking and distance management. He opened his promotional tenure with unanimous decision wins over Jamie Pickett and Mike Rodriguez, showcasing the footwork, timing, and heavy hands that had made him a respected striking prospect. However, the light heavyweight division proved to be his undoing. A devastating flying-knee knockout loss to undefeated prospect Azamat Murzakanov in the third round of a fight Nchukwi was winning exposed fatal flaws in his defensive lapses against explosive opponents. Back-to-back losses followed: a brutal first-round TKO to Carlos Ulberg and a lopsided decision defeat to A.J. Dobson, who caught him 3.5 pounds over the middleweight limit at the weigh-ins. By 2023, Nchukwi was no longer on the UFC roster.
